वुद्ध जन्मस्थल बिषयमा सिर्जित दिग्भ्रम निस्तेज पार्ने काम नयाँ चरणमा

सबैभन्दा महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धी र भावी रणनीति: बिभिन्न देशको पाठ्य पुस्तकमा नै वुद्धको जन्मस्थल भारत लेखिएकोले करोडौं मानिसले त्यही पढ्ने हुनाले उनीहरुद्धारा सिर्जित कुनै पनि गतिबिधिमा त्यस्को प्रभाव पर्नु स्वाभाबिकै हो तापनि यो कुनियत भने होइन । जाकारीयालाई धेरै दबाब दिंदा पनि आत्मालोचना नगर्नु, ब्रिटिश म्युजियममा डा सोना दत्तको काम, नक्कली लुम्बिनी निर्माण आदि भने कुनियत हुन । यसरी ठूला ठूला बिभिन्न समस्या हुँदाहुँदै पनि समस्याको जरो भनेकै बिभिन्न देशको पाठ्य पुस्तकमा भएको गलत जानकारी भएकोले अभियानको तर्फबाट तात्कालिन प्रधानमन्त्री माधव कुमार नेपाललाई कुटनितिक नियोग मार्फत बिभिन्न देशको पाठ्य पुस्तकमा भएको वुद्ध जन्मस्थल बिषयमा भएको गल्ती सच्याउन पर्ने कुरामा जोड दिंदै ज्ञापन पत्र बुझाईएको थियो । त्यसैले कोरियाका लागि तात्कालिन राजदूत कमल प्रशाद कोइरालाले त्यहाँको राष्ट्रपतिलाई गर्नु भएको आग्रहपस्चात त्यहाँको सरकारले पाठ्य पुस्तकमा सच्याउने जुन निर्णय गरेको छ त्यो अभियानको लागि कोसेढुंगा हो र अब अन्य देशमा यही कार्यलाई निरन्तरता दिन सकियो भने यो विस्वब्यापी समस्या समाधान कार्य समस्या हुनेछैन ।   

प्रमाणित गर्ने नभएर सिर्जित दिग्भ्रम निस्तेज पार्ने हाम्रो दायित्व: “वुद्ध नेपालमा जन्मनु भएको प्रमाणित गर्ने काम कहाँ पुग्यो?” जस्तो प्रश्न यदाकदा आउने गर्छन् । वुद्ध नेपालमा जन्मनु भएको प्रमाणित भैसकेको छ । त्यसैले युनेस्कोले लुम्बिनीलाई विस्व संपदा सूचिमा पारेको र जापानले युनेस्को मार्फत पाँच बर्षे परियोजना शुरु गरेको हो भने प्रो केन्जो टांगे र प्रो क्वाकले लुम्बिनीको गुरु योजना तयार पारेका हुन वुद्ध जन्मस्थल बिकास गर्ने हेतुले र यी दुबै गुरु योजना राष्ट्र संघ आन्तर्गतकै काम हुन । हाम्रो मौनता र कम्जोरीको फायदा उठाएर शक्तिको भरमा वुद्धको बिस्वब्यापी महत्वका कारण त्यसबाट लालायितहरुले गलत कुरालाई सही जस्तो देखिने गरी वुद्ध भारतमा जन्मेको भन्ने किसिमले बिभिन्न देशको पाठ्य पुस्तक, ठूला ठूला संग्रहालयहरु, प्रभाबशाली अन्तरास्ट्रिय संस्थाहरु एबं पत्रिकाहरु, नक्कली लुम्बिनी र कपिलवस्तु आदि मार्फत दिग्भ्रमलाई विस्वब्यापी बनाउने जुन काम भएको छ यस्ले नेपालको राष्ट्रियता कम्जोर बनाउने र नतमस्तक हुनु पर्ने अवस्था मात्रै सिर्जना भएको छैन, यस्ले वुद्धप्रति आस्थाबानहरु बुद्ध जन्मस्थल जान चाहनेहरु कि त झुक्किएर कि त झुक्याइएर वर्षेनी हजारौंको संख्यामा नक्कली लुम्बिनी पुग्ने पुर्याइने कामले उनीहरुको मानबाधिकार हनन हुने र उनीहरुको आस्थामा कुठाराघात पुर्याइने काम जस्तो जघन्य आपराधिक काम बुद्धकै नाममा भैराखेकोले सिर्जित दिग्भ्रम निस्तेज पार्दै यी सबै आपराधिक काम रोकथाम गरी भैराखेको विस्व माबाधिकार हनन समाधान कार्यमा योगदान दिनु पनि हो हाम्रो अस्तित्व र प्रतिस्ठालाई धुमिल हुन नदिने काम गर्दै ।

१७ अगस्ट, २०१३ साइप्रस हल मेलबर्न । आज यहाँ आयोजित प्रमोद खरेल संगितिक सांझ कार्यक्रममा चर्चित युवा गायक प्रमोद खरेललाई लुम्बिनी-कपिलवस्तु दिवस अभियानको नयाँ सांस्कृतिक दूतको रुपमा नियुक्त गरिएको छ । सांस्कृतिक दूतको प्रमाण-पत्र हस्तान्तरण गर्दै लुम्बिनी-कपिलवस्तु दिवस अभियानका बिस्व संयोजक रामकुमार श्रेष्ठले नेपालीको पहिचान र गौरब कायम गर्दै सत्यको प्रतिरक्षाका खातिर अभियान जुन उद्धेस्यका लागि संघर्षरत छ त्यस्को लागि हरेक ब्यक्तिले आ-आफ्नो क्षमता, स्तर, रुची अनुसार योगदान दिन सक्ने भएकोले चर्चित युवा गायक प्रमोद खरेललाई अभियानको सांस्कृतिक दूत बनाएपछि उहाँले बिभिन्न देशमा आफ्नो सांगितिक यात्राको क्रममा अभियानको उद्धेस्य प्राप्ती कार्यलाई थप जिम्मेवारीको रुपमा लिनु हुने कुरामा अभियान बिस्वस्त रहेको बताउनु भयो ।

With the ground reality that Lumbini in Nepal is the birth place of Gautam Buddha, aiming to clarify the confusion among world community and rectify wrong information printed about the Buddha’s birthplace in many text books and religious books wherever in the world, and be supportive to the development, expansion and protection of Lumbini in Nepal, the Lumbini – Kapilvastu global movement started from 1^stDecember 2009, with a purpose to spread the real message that Buddha was born in Nepal by encouraging every Nepali to publicise the reality and rise the national dignity, the 18^th National Committee Norway of Lumbini – Kapilvastu Day  Global Movement has been formed with a provision to include more advisors if necessary, for now with  2 advisors  and 11 coordinators in the presence of Europe advisor Mr. Damodar Prasad Acharya.

Opening the possibility as necessary to expand the committee later, the 11 member National Movement Committee in Norway consists of following coordinators:

Buddha gift to Julia Gillard by Nepalese Community

Prime Minister Office, Canberra, Australia, 19th June, 2013 On behalf of the Nepalese community living in Australia Lumbini-Kapilvastu Day Movement Global Coordinator Ram Kumar Shrestha and Australia's Sub-Continent Ministerial Consultative Committee Member Mahendra Lamsal jointly presented the gift of Buddha statue and peace wish letter to the Prime Minister of Australia Julia Gillard. While presenting the gift Mr. Shrestha and Mr. Lamsal said that Buddha was born in Lumbini, Nepal and, hence; Nepalese community decided to present Peace symbol Buddha statue wishing peace in Australia along with its prosperous development. Prime Minister Gillard thanked for the gift and wish letter and expressed her happiness to have opportunity to decorate her office with the peace symbol Buddha. Immediately after the program Prime Minister Julia Gillard garnished her office show case by the Buddha statue presented by the Nepalese community.

आगामी २५५७ औं बुद्ध जयन्ति सिडनीको डार्लिङ हार्बरमा भब्यताका साथ मनाउने तयारीको रुपमा दक्षिणी गोलार्द्धकै सबैभन्दा ठूलो बुद्ध मन्दिर मानिने सिडनीको “नान टी यान टेम्पल” मा बिभिन्न सत्र देशका कलाकारहरुद्धारा यही मार्च २९ र ३१ गरी दुई दिन प्रारम्भिक सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमको आयोजना गरिएको थियो । बुद्धको जन्मभूमि नेपालको कला, संस्कृतिको परिचय दिंने अभिप्रायले उक्त सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रममा चिनारी नेपालले नेपालका तर्फबाट सहभागिता जनाएको थियो । मार्च ३१ आइतबारका दिन आयोजित दोश्रो दिनको कार्यक्रममा चिनारी नेपालका कलाकारहरु सन्तोकी के.सी., र आयुस्मा सापकोटा र मुनलाइट आर्ट एण्ड क्रियटिभ सेण्टरबाट अतिथि कलाकार प्रतिमा लिम्बूबाट बिभिन्न सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमहरु प्रस्तुत गरिएका थिए । उक्त प्रारम्भिक कार्यक्रममा जनाइएको सहभागितापस्चात नेपालका तर्फबाट सिडनीको डार्लिङ हार्बरमा मनाइने आगामी २५५७ औं बुद्ध जयन्तिमा चिनारी नेपाल बिभिन्न सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमका साथ नेपाललाई बुद्धभूमिको रुपमा चिनाउन सहभागी हुने भएको छ ।

Chris Demuth Advocates “Buddha was born in Nepal”

Chris Demuth talks about Fareed Zakaria’s book The Post-American World where Zakaria is giving absolutely wrong information on Buddha’s birthplace and Mr Demuth advocates not buying the book as it does lie. He was surprised with India’s claim that Buddha was born in India.  Mr Demuth also suggests signing the petition to advocate Buddha was born in Nepal and not in India.

Fareed Rafiq Zakaria is an Indian-American journalist and author. From 2000 to 2010, he was a columnist for Newsweek and editor of Newsweek International. In 2010 he became editor-at-large of Time. He is the host of CNN‘s Fareed Zakaria GPS. He is also a frequent commentator and author about issues related to international relations, trade, and American foreign policy.

Zakaria is the author of few books including The Post-American World. His last two books have both been New York Times bestsellers, and have been translated into over 25 languages.

Fareed Zakaria opened up about his plagiarism scandal in an interview with the New York Times.  He got into severe trouble after he was found to have lifted a paragraph from a recent New Yorker article for a column in Time. He was suspended from that magazine and from CNN.

Fareed Zakaria is damaging his own reputation by himself giving the world this kind of wrong information about globally respected peace messenger’s birthplace and hurting to about 500 million Buddhists. Lots of people wrote him, left comments in his own Facebook page discussion board started by Lumbini-Kapilvastu Day Movement, but neither he apologised nor expressed his commitment to correct in the next edition. राष्ट्रियता बिरोधी केही दिग्भ्रमित दिग्भ्रमहरु

त्यसैले लुम्बिनीमा अब छिट्टै केही भएरै छाडछ - खुट्टा कमाउने कमाइ रहुन, भंडुवाहरु भाँडिरहुन, पलायन हुने भैरहुन । हामी आ-आफ्नो स्तर र क्षमताले भ्याएसम्म बुद्ध जन्मस्थल बिषयमा सिर्जित दिग्भ्रम निस्तेज पार्ने कामलाई नागरिकीय दायित्व ठानेर आ-आफ्नो ठाउँबाट जारी राखौं । आस्चर्यजनक सन्नाटाका बीच पनि सबैतिरबाट बातावरण हाम्रै पक्षमा तयार हुँदैछ । शान्तिका प्रतिमूर्ति बुद्धका कारण लुम्बिनी र यस्को वरिपरिको एकीकृत बिकास गर्न बिभिन्न देशका प्रतिष्ठित ब्यक्ति र संस्थाहरुदेखि राष्ट्र संघसम्म अनबरत लागिरहँदा हाम्रोतर्फबाट भने आफूले केही गर्न नसके पनि उनीहरुको चाहना पुरा गर्नमा समेत खासै कार्यतत्परता नदर्शाइनु अत्यन्तै लज्जाजनक हो । संकुचित घेराभन्दा माथि उठन सक्नु आजको आवश्यकता हो । बिस्वले नै महत्व दिइरहेको लुम्बिनी बिकासमा बर्तमानका सकारात्मक पक्षलाई अब पनि सदुपयोग गर्नुको अलावा यो वा त्यो बहानामा ब्यबधान खडा गर्नु भनेको बिस्वकै सामू आफूलाई हास्य पात्रको रुपमा देखाउनुभन्दा बढी केही हुनेछैन । केही गर्न खोज्नेको लागि बिभिन्न स्तरबाट बिभिन्न रुपमा ब्यबधान सिर्जना जतिसुकै गरे पनि लुम्बिनी छिट्टै मेक्का मेदिना र भ्याटिकन सिटी जस्तै संसारभरिका पर्यटकहरुको लागि आकर्षणको केन्द्र बन्ने कुरामा सन्देह छैन । त्यसैले निम्नतम नागरिकीय दायित्व पुरा गर्नुको अलावा गर्न खोज्नेको बाटो ढुक्दै ढुंगाप्रहार गरेर अरुले खुलेयाम र आँफैले आँफैलाई आजीवन मनमनै अपराधी भन्ने बातावरण किन बनाउने?नेतादेखि जंक जनतासम्म भारतको स्वार्थको लागि काम गरिदिने भएकोले नेपालको राष्ट्रियता जति कम्जोर छ भनेर भनिने गरिए तापनि यो सोंचेभन्दा धेरै मजबूत छ । उठान गरिएका संबेदनशील मुद्धाहरुमा मौन बसिदिने अकबर बीरबलको कथाका जस्ता बग्रेल्ती अन्धाहरु मात्रै नभएर नेपालका हितमा हुन लागेका र गरिन लागेका कुनै पनि गतिबिधिमा दिल्लीमा बस्नेहरुलाई हाँच्छ्यू नआउँदै नेपालभित्रै अनेक बहानामा एण्टिबायोटिक नै खानु पर्ने दिग्गज जंक जनताहरु जति देखा परे पनि यस्ले बिशेष अवस्थामा संभाबित खतराबाट जोगिन धेरै हदसम्म सहयोगीको भूमिका निर्बाह गर्नेछ ।

सामान्य भाषामा भन्नु पर्दा राष्ट्रियता भनेको देशको अस्तित्वमाथि देखा पर्ने वा देखा परेका समस्याका कारणसिर्जित चिन्ता, चिन्तन र समस्या समाधानका लागि गरिने बिभिन्न गतिबिधि हुन । यो नि:शर्त, नि:स्वार्थ र स्वत: स्फूर्त रुपमा देखा पर्नु पर्ने हो तापनि आजको स्वार्थपूर्ण समयमा बिभिन्न स्वार्थका कारण त्यसरी देखा नपर्ने मात्रै होइन कि यदाकदा बिभिन्न रुपमा बिभिन्न स्तरबाट राष्ट्रियताको बिषयमा कृयाशिलहरुकाखिलाफमा बिभिन्न किसिमले ब्यबधान र भ्रम सिर्जना गर्ने, निरुत्साहित गर्ने, सहभागीहरुलाई निस्कृय रहतोत्सहित पार्ने जस्ता कामहरु समेत हुने गर्छन् । उठान गरिने बिषयबस्तु र यस्मा संलग्न ब्यक्ति र समूहअनुसार बिषयबस्तुले स्थानीय, राष्ट्रिय मात्रै नभएर क्षेत्रीय र बिस्वब्यापी रुप समेत लिन सक्छ र सामनागरिनु पर्ने समस्याले पनि । 

बिदेशी भूमिबाट राष्ट्रियता गतिबिधि देशको माया गर्न भूगोलले छेक्दैन र यो आलेख पछिल्लो चार बर्षमा बिदेशमा बस्ने नेपालीहरुद्धारा गरिएकागतिबिधिहरुमा केन्द्रित हुनेछ । बिदेशमा बस्ने नेपालीहरुका बीच बिशेष गरी करीब चार बर्षदेखि राष्ट्रियताको बिषयमा धेरै गतिबिधि भएका देखिन्छन । भारतद्धारा नेपाली भू-भागमा गरिएको अतिक्रमण र नेपालीमाथि गरिएका बिभिन्नकिसिमका अमानबीय दुर्व्यबहारका बिरुद्ध जून १५, २००९ मा बिभिन्न देशमा कार्यक्रम आयोजना गरिए भने फेसबुक मार्फत बिशेष तयारीका साथ सोही दिन चौबिसै घण्टा बिस्वभर छरिएर रहेका नेपालीहरुले बिरोध कार्यमा सहभागी भए ।

We are not going to prove that Buddha was born in Nepal. It is already proved. We just want to dismiss the misinformation and protect human rights of world tourists who actually want to go to Lumbini, Nepal - the birthplace of The Buddha - but going to the wrong place either due to the misinformation or bad intention. Participating in the petition, hence, is very important and help the petition by inviting and requesting your friends to sign.

Nepal was promoted in Pako Festa, Australia

23 February 2013 Geelong, Australia: Geelong, the second biggest city of Victoria in Australia, transformed into a multicultural melting pot as thousands flocked to the thirty-first annual Pako Festa. It incorporated an extravagant street parade featuring around ninety floats and hundreds of performers representing forty-five affiliated ethnic communities and around sixty other community groups and organizations. The street was lined with stalls selling traditional foods and arts and crafts, and nine separate stages in the precinct offer performances of music and dance as well as interactive workshops and exhibitions. Pako Festa has become Victoria’s premier multicultural event, attended by well over hundred thousand people in each of the last three years and estimated to inject close to $2.5 million dollars into the local economy just over the course of the day itself.

Because of very nominal Nepalese in Geelong, Lumbini-Kapilvastu Day Movement Global Coordinator Mr. Ram Kumar Shrestha requested other Nepalese communities living in other cities to use Pako Festa as opportunity to promote Nepal as the country of the Buddha and the Mt. Everest. His idea was for Nepal to take advantage of this big gathering from different counties to try to dismiss misinformation of Buddha’s birthplace. Nepalese Association of Victoria President Bom Yonjan, Nepali Sanchar Managing Director Pramod K Soni and Namaste Nepal News Chief Editor Sabin Thapa, and Lumbini-Kapilvastu Day Movement Victoria Committee were active for necessary input and mobilized community members to participate in the festival to promote Nepal as the country of the Buddha and the Mt. Everest. Nepalese communities promoted Nepal through flags, banners, Nepali music, dance, Nepali dress and stalls. Miss Nepal Australia 2012 Deepashree Shah represented our country with a Kumari dance.

बुद्ध नेपालमै जन्मिएका हुन् – भारतीय विद्वान

१६ माघ, भैरहवा । गौतम बुद्ध भारतमा नभै नेपालमै जन्मिएको प्रस्टोक्ति एक भारतीय एक विदुषी प्राध्यापकले दिनुभएको छ ।

रुपन्देहीस्थित भैरहवा बहुमुखी क्यामपसद्वारा आयोजित कार्यक्रममा भारतीय प्राध्यापक डा अन्जु शर्मा उपाध्यायले भन्नुभयो, “सस्तो लोकपि्रयताका लागि कसैकसैले बुद्ध भारतमा जन्मिएको बताएको होलान् तर मेरो अनुभव, अनुसन्धान र खोजले कहिल्यै बुद्ध भारतमा जन्मिएको प्रमाण पाएको छैन” । उहाँले प्राज्ञिक तवरले पुराना गल्तीलाई सच्चाउन सम्बन्धित निकायलाई झक्झकाउने बताउनुभयो ।

केही समयअघि लुम्बिनीमा आयोजित नेपाल-भारत टुरिजम मार्ट नामक कार्यक्रममा भारतीय पक्षबाट वितरित एक पुस्तिका ‘दि पाथ’ मा बुद्धका बुबा शुद्धोदनको दरबार रहेको तिलौराकोट क्षेत्र भारतको उत्तर प्रदेशमा पर्दछ भनी उल्लेख गरिएको थियो । यस कार्यक्रममा संस्कृति मन्त्री पोस्टबहादुर बोगटी र नेपालका लागि भारतीय राजदूत जयन्तप्रसादलगायत नेपाल र भारतका पर्यटन व्यवसायीको उल्लेख्य सहभागिता थियो ।

उक्त कार्यक्रममा भारतीय पक्षले बाँडेको पुस्तिकाबारे जिज्ञासा राख्दा प्राध्यापक शर्माले भारतको सरकारी धारणा त्यस्तो नभएको बताउँदै सस्तो लोकपि्रयताका लागि कसैले त्यस्तो गर्न सक्छ भन्नुभयो । बुद्ध नेपालमै जन्मिएको बरु भ्रमणको क्रममा भारतको सारनाथमा गएको प्रशस्त ऐतिहासिक प्रमाण भएको उहाँको भनाइ थियो ।

• 623 BC: Prince Siddhartha Gautama, who later becomes Buddha, is born in Lumbini.
• 249 BC: Emperor Asoka visits Lumbini and erects the Asoka Pillar with Pali language inscriptions in the Brahmi script to pay homage to Buddha’s birthplace.
• 350- 375 AD: Chinese Monk Sengtsai belonging to the Chin Dynasty visits Lumbini for pilgrimage and writes accounts of his visit.
• 399-413 AD: Chinese traveller Fa-hsien visits Lumbini and describes the place where Buddha’s mother, Queen Mayadevi, gave birth to Prince Siddharta and where the newborn was bathed.
• 636 AD: Chinese traveller Hsuan-tsang visits Lumbini. He describes Lumbini as “a deserted place, and wild animals roamed around enough to warn off travellers."
• 1312 AD: Ripu Malla, King of the Malla Kingdom of Kathmandu, visits Lumbini. He is the last visitor to leave evidence of his visit prior to the site remaining in oblivion for centuries.
• 1896: General Khadga Shamsher, Governor of Tansen, organizes an expedition together with German archaeologist Anton Fuhrer. The Asoka Pillar, which marks Buddha’s birthplace, is re-discovered.
• 1899: Excavation by Purna Chandra Mukherji discovers the main piece of the Nativity Sculpture. Two additional pieces of the sculpture are found and joined together some 85 years later by Tara Nanda Misra.

Einstein on Buddhism

[Albert Einstein (14 March 1879 – 18 April 1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the general theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics (alongside quantum mechanics). While best known for his mass–energy equivalence formula E = mc² (which has been dubbed "the world's most famous equation"), he received the 1921Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to theoretical physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect". The latter was pivotal in establishing quantum theory.

Near the beginning of his career, Einstein thought that Newtonian mechanics was no longer enough to reconcile the laws of classical mechanicswith the laws of the electromagnetic field. This led to the development of his special theory of relativity. He realized, however, that the principle of relativity could also be extended to gravitational fields, and with his subsequent theory of gravitation in 1916, he published a paper on the general theory of relativity. He continued to deal with problems of statistical mechanics and quantum theory, which led to his explanations of particle theoryand the motion of molecules. He also investigated the thermal properties of light which laid the foundation of the photon theory of light. In 1917, Einstein applied the general theory of relativity to model the structure of the universe as a whole.

US $ 77 million Gautam Buddha Int'l Airport to be built

KATHMANDU, Jun 26:Upgrading Gautam Buddha Airport (GBA) at Lumbini, which the government plans to develop into a regional international airport, will cost more than double what the Asian Development Bank (ADB) had earlier assessed, according to the latest detailed study commissioned by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal(CAAN).

"The new assessment done by a Korea-based consulting firm shows that the cost of completion of the first phase upgradation alone will hover around US $ 77 million. This is higher than the earlier estimate by US $ 42 million," said a senior official at CAAN.

A previous study carried out by the ADB four years ago had put the total cost of first phase upgradation at around US $ 35 million.

Based on that assessment, the government had secured a soft loan of around US $ 38 million under the South Asia Tourism Infrastructure Development Project of ADB. As per the agreement, the Nepal government has to bear 15 percent of the total cost.

The latest estimate has rattled the CAAN - the civil aviation regulator - and it has turned to the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to arrange additional funds.

“We have sent a letter to MoF requesting it to arrange additional resources in the coming budget or initiate a dialogue with the ADB for raising the assistance amount,” Tri Ratna Manandhar, director general of CAAN, told Republica.

नेपालको विद्यमान कानुनी व्यवस्थाअनुसार विद्यालय तहसम्म कुनै पनि विदेशी शिक्षण संस्थाको सम्बन्धनबाट विद्यालय सञ्चालन गर्न मिल्दैन । ललितपुरस्थित डिएभी सुशील केडिया विश्व भारती उमाविले कक्षा ६ को ‘इन्टि्रगेटेड सोसल स्टडी’ विषयमा भारतको राष्ट्रियगान जन गण मन, राष्ट्रिय जनावर बाघ, लुम्बिनी भारतमा पर्ने र गौतम बुद्ध भारतमा जन्मेको जस्तो आपत्तिजनक पाठ्यपुस्तक पढाइरहेकोे भनी अखिल नेपाल शिक्षक सङ्गठनले आन्दोलन प्रारम्भ गरेपछि सो विषय नेपाल र भारतबीचको उपल्लो तहमा पुगेको छ ।

भारतीय दूतावासले हालै शिक्षा मन्त्रालयमा पत्राचार गरी भारतीय शैक्षिक बोर्डअन्तर्गत चार विद्यालयको विधिवत् मान्यताका लागि आवश्यक समन्वय गर्न आग्रह गरेको मन्त्रालयका सहप्रवक्ता डा रोजनाथ पाण्डेले जानकारी दिनुभयो । उहाँले सो विषयको किनारा लगाउन मन्त्रिपरिषद्मा प्रस्ताव लैजाने तयारी भएको बुझिएको छ ।

Kenzo Tange Master Plan for Lumbini

When U Thant visited Nepal in April 1967 as Secretary-General of the United Nations, he proposed the development of Lumbini into a major centre of pilgrimage. This was followed by a UNDP consultant mission in December 1969, which led to a report that established the basis for further planning around Lumbini.

In 1970, the International Committee for the Development of Lumbini (ICDL) was set up comprising initially of 13 members and later expanded to 16 member states. The initial member states were Afghanistan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Later, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Republic of Korea also joined. At the national level, the Lumbini Development Committee was formed. ICDL initiated the preparation of the Master Plan for Lumbini, which was conceptualized by Kenzo Tange starting from 1972. The Kenzo Tange Master Plan was finalized and approved in 1978.

• Tilaurakot: The ancient capital of the Shakya Kingdom, which was the kingdom of Buddha’s father, with remains of the fortification wall with gates and remains of the citadel; Prince Siddhartha lived here until 29 years of age; site in Tentative World Heritage List
• Niglihawa: Birthplace of Kanakmuni, who was one of the four Buddhas of the Bhadrakalpa era (which is a long and immeasurable period of time of the sages, and it is also the present eon); site has a broken Asoka Pillar erected by Emperor Asoka in 249 BC

Lumbini welcomed 758k tourists in 2012

BHAIRAHAWA: The number of tourists visiting the birth place of Lord Buddha during the Lumbini Visit Year 2012 grew by almost one-third compared to 2011, but still the arrivals fell short of the target set by the government by over 24 percent.

The government had announced that it would bring a total of one million tourists, both domestic and foreign, in Lumbini when it announced Lumbini Visit Year 2012 last year. But as the year ended on Monday, Lumbini Development Trust said a total of 758,269 tourists visited Lumbini in 2012. 

The majority of tourists visiting Lumbini were domestic visitors. "Though we couldn´t achieve the target, the campaign proved instrumental in promoting the destination," Hari Dhwoj Rai, information officer of Lumbini Development Trust, told Republica.
